Race to Save 2nd Base – 5K Run

Join Downtown Manhattan, Inc.  as we present our 1st annual Race to Save 2nd Base.

The 2017 race will feature a 5K run along Poyntz Avenue, beginning and ending at AJ’s Pizzeria, 301 Poyntz Avenue, in Downtown Manhattan.

Registered participants will get a pizza slice, a beer (or a soft drink) and a cookie or cupcake for their effort.

Come early!  Lots to see and do for everyone.  The K-State Marching Band and Willie the Wildcat will be with us to help kick off the event.  There will also be a bounce house and an obstacle course for the kids.

This year as a special benefit for racers and non-racers alike, the Kansas Masonic Foundation and the KU Cancer Center will be providing a variety of cancer screenings completely free of charge (see information below)  in Downtown Manhattan at the  Alan Lee Annex of the First United Methodist Church at 612 Poyntz.  Manhattan’s own Masons from Layfayette Lodge #16 are hosting this event.  Screenings will be available from 9:00-Noon:  Two dermatologists will be onsite to perform skin cancer screenings, both visually and with a dermascan machine.   A urologist will be on site to perform prostate exams and to draw blood for PSA tests.  Information on breast cancer will also be available.

Click here to register for the race.  Just $30 before March 22nd, $40 after that date.
