Manhattan’s Blue Earth Plaza and conference center district will soon become a brilliant wonderland with the first ever “Festival of Lights”.
Thousands of lights will sparkle with color on a tree towering 50 feet above the Blue Earth Plaza next to the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Every night beginning at 7pm and running every 15 minutes, a music concert will be presented as the Plaza bursts into a synchronized light show with traditional holiday songs. The Blue Earth Plaza and surrounding area will be transformed in to a wonderland of lights.
The opening ceremony for the “Festival of Lights” will be held on Friday November 29th beginning at 7pm. The presentation will include the arrival of Santa on a horse drawn carriage. Santa will have the honor of pulling the switch to illuminate the lights for the very first time.
Visitors can catch a horse drawn carriage ride that will travel through the Festival of Lights as well as Downtown Manhattan. Carriage rides will be available from 7-9pm on the inaugural evening and every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from December 7th-22nd from 5-8 pm. Rides are free with a donation of non-perishable food to the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.
The Festival is free to everyone with free parking on site or in the conference center parking garage.
The “Festival of Lights” will run November 29 – December 31 and is free to the public. This is a family friendly event.
Partners in “Festival of Lights” are:
